Texas Beats Louisville 4-1 at College World Series
If Texas coach Augie Garrido thought his Longhorns looked out of character against UC Irvine, then things were back to normal Monday against Louisville.
The Texas offense manufactured runs in its typical small-ball style, and starter Parker French kept the Cardinals off-balance in a 4-1 win at the College World Series.
The Longhorns (44-20) avoided elimination in the loser’s bracket and advanced to Wednesday’s game against the UC Irvine-Vanderbilt loser at TD Ameritrade Park. It also snapped a four-game losing streak in Omaha as Texas grabbed its first CWS win since 2009.
Texas now has an NCAA-record 83 wins in the College World Series. Only USC (74) and Arizona State (61) are even close. Garrido’s club needs to win three more to win Bracket One and advance to the best-of-3 championship series.
