Texas Rangers Trio Battles Against Seattle
Prince Fielder broke the worst home run drought of his career, Robbie Ross Jr. made the best start of his young career and Kevin Kouzmanoff continued his career comeback as the Texas Rangers beat Seattle 5-0 on Tuesday.
Fielder, who entered the game with 109 consecutive at-bats without a home run (including last year’s playoffs), dating back to the 2013 regular season, homered to center on his first at-bat. Kouzmanoff followed to make it 2-0.
Ross took the shutout to the eighth inning before giving way to the bullpen with two outs. It was the first time he’d pitched past the sixth inning as a starter. He needed only 90 pitches to get that far.
