Newborn Baby in Texas Thrown in Dumpster Found Barely Alive
A baby boy was found alive in a Houston Dumpster on Tuesday, his umbilical cord still attached.
Construction worker Carlos Mitchel was throwing trash into an overloaded container when he heard what sounded like a cat. After a bit of prodding, he untied a plastic bag and was shocked to find the child inside.
A 16-year-old girl was taken to an area hospital after admitting she’d abandoned the baby, Houston Police spokesperson Jodi Silva confirmed to The News. After she has been released, authorities will determine whether she will be referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probbation Authority with charges.
Neighbors at The Reserve at Windmill Lakes apartment complex are still wondering what could drive a parent to abandon a baby this way.
