Texas Gun Show Loses County License for Refusing Background Checks
The lease for a long-running gun show in Texas will not be renewed after both the show’s operator and Travis County refused to budge on background checks.
Saxet Gun Shows has been hosting the nearly-monthly show at the Exposition Center since 2010 and had been negotiating a new contract to last through next January. But Travis County leaders wanted the company to require background checks on all firearm purchases, including private sales.
Saxet refused, and on Tuesday, Travis County moved to let the contract expire, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
