Tensions High Today in Texas over Boy Scout Decision
Carter Bailey never had taken a stand before, but now is threatening to “relinquish my rank of Eagle Scout” if the Boy Scouts does not reverse its long-running ban on openly gay members.
“They’re turning away kids who very well could be in a troubled time. It pains me to see any kid turned away,” said Bailey, a San Antonio software developer who remains active in Scouting in his troop in Tyler.
With a decision possible today in Irving, Texas Republicans are admonishing the national board of the Boy Scouts of America to “be morally and physically strong.”
