Texas Parole Officer Guilty for Accepting Bribes from Parolee
A former Texas state parole officer from Dallas County pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court for accepting bribes from one of her parolees in exchange for not reporting his parole violations, authorities said.
Nichelle Derricks, 37, of Cedar Hill, pleaded guilty to one count of honest services wire fraud.
She admitted to taking bribes in the form of cash and gifts from a Dallas business owner she supervised when she was a state parole officer. In exchange, she allowed the parolee — who was not named in the Oct. 24 indictment — to run a massive oil and gas royalty scheme that defrauded investors, authorities say.
