CORPUS CHRISTI — More than 3,000 Coastal Bend policyholders stand to lose their wind and hailstorm coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association if they cannot get official certification by the end of August that their houses meet certain standards.

The policyholders are among about 21,000 throughout the 14 coastal counties in a coverage doughnut hole who, through an act of the state Legislature in 2011, were deemed eligible to receive wind and hailstorm coverage through the association but whose homes never have been certified as compliant with windstorm building standards.
