Texas Officials Speak on Supreme Court’s Move on Gay Marriage Cases
Friday’s announcement that the U.S. Supreme Court will take up two major cases regarding same-sex marriage didn’t solicit an immediate response from Texas’ attorney general, but the state has previously supported keeping the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
The move to take up the cases prompted some groups around Texas to caution the high court against breaching states’ rights to ban same-sex marriage, while others welcomed the possibility of a ruling on the issue.
