San Antonio Researchers Develop Single-Dose HIV Vaccine

A major medical breakthrough is happening in San Antonio.

South Texas researchers say they have come up with a vaccine to protect people against the AIDS virus. The vaccine is designed as a single dose and it should last a lifetime.

The Texas Biomedical Research Institute has applied for a patent for a genetically-engineered vaccine strategy to prevent HIV infection that targets the outer layers of body structures that are the first sites of contact.
