First Latina Secretary of State Resigns

AUSTIN — Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade, the first Latina to hold the position, is resigning effective Friday.

Andrade on Tuesday submitted her letter of resignation to Governor Rick Perry, who named her to the post in 2008, according to the secretary of state’s office.

The San Antonio resident had previously served on the Texas Transportation Commission, also appointed by Perry.
